Hello Nora!

My name is Tristan, and I’ve created this page because I would really love to talk about the potential of becoming a Leica Ambassador, or representative. Here is why I think I would be ideal:

I’m a documentary portrait photographer from London. In 2019 I have received the following merits:

  • Magnum Emerging Brief finalist (2019) - alongside Sam Gregg who mentioned he is representing the Leica brand

  • Lensculture Street Photography Award Finalist (series) 2019 - Winner yet to be announced

  • Portrait of Britain Shortlist (2019) - Winners yet to be announced

I regularly shoot for GQ and i-D magazine and have been featured in the following publications: New York Times online, BBC, The Guardian, National Geographic Traveler, The new statesman. Here is a preview of my latest series, shot entirely on the Leica M system with classic lenses:

But why me

Long story short, I love Leica. Some of my friends call me Mr. Leica, as my enthusiasm for the brand can border on obsession. I’ve admired the brand since studying Cartier Bresson as a teenager and there has always been Leica’s in the family. I believe in the ethos of Leica and have been shooting with one as soon as I was able to scrape enough together to buy one. Over the years I’ve piled my savings into the digital M system with some of your best lenses, and am a huge advocate. I also shoot on the M6. Below is a video of me with my Leica shooting the project linked above.

A history of Leica

My uncle Mathias Heng has long been one of the ambassadors in Asia - because of this, I was witness to each iteration of the leica M system whilst growing up. I remember shooting on the M8 when he brought it over for the first time, even the feel of it sticks with me. I’m confident that this is where my respect for the brand is rooted, but it has grown since as I have become a practitioner .

I have a modest but steadily growing social media presence and have a few projects that should receive a decent amount of publicity in the coming months. I’d love to show you more and potentially work together in the near future.
